Assuming this was a goodly sum: * Pay any debts. * Make repairs and upgrades to home and property to make it largely self-sufficient.
* There are some important people, friends and family, that I would do some things for, which would vary with each person.
* There's an idea I have for a...charity of sorts, though it would be a place for people in need to get help, it would primarily be predicated on the idea of community, people helping each other...where people could get help and give help. The money would fund a loan account, property for the office, a community garden, and a free-cycle center. It would also align with other local charities. This would take a good chunk, depending on the amount, maybe 20%. * With the remaining amount, most would be invested/set aside, but I would take a small chunk and indulge myself with a few things...a small pond out back, some tools, my wish list of books...
Assuming you mean a huge jackpot, I would donate most of it to a single charity. The only thing I want for myself is the ability to never have to fly commercial again.
I'd take care of the people I consider family.... education for the kids, housing and some kind of business they'd enjoy for the adults.
Not quite sure what I'd do with myself, to be honest. Go out and get myself a bunch of experiences that I've not been able to afford to, for starters. Maybe go to school. I'd definitely set up funding to help lower income people provide adequate veterinary care for their pets. So many wonderful, loving people don't have pets because they're afraid of not being able to care for them properly.
I would be able to finance a line of clothing made out of unused plastic garbage, trash, bin bag/liners. Then I would decorate my whole home with them as well. Then help my family with the rest of the money.
