There's a program on TV called Hawaii Life.

Shouldn't it really be called Hawaiian Life?  Even the bread is called Hawaiian Bread, not Hawaii bread.

I was just going to say the same thing, when I read the question.  LOL

I guess it is like saying Chicago life rather than Chicagoan life?

    I don't know.

I've never heard anyone call them Hawaii skirts.

If you ever go to a bar, order a Blue Hawaiian, not a Blue Hawaii. Lmao

No.  It is proper either way. Context rules.

Sorry I can't help you.  I'm still stuck on pleaded vs. pled.
I believe the correct usage should be "he pled guilty."  I don't care if it is a "weak verb"  I think it sounds better than "he pleaded guilty." (this grinds against my senses)

Garner states that "The best course is to treat plead as a weak verb, so that the correct past tense, as well as past participle, is pleaded." He goes on to say that pled and plead are alternative past- tense forms with "some standing" in American English (and that "pled" is a common variant in legal usage).

Now that I think about it, Yes, you are correct.  Hawaii is a place Hawaiian is something from Hawaii.
Sorry, I was momentarily sidetracked with the pled vs. pleaded.  It will always be a sticking point.

You're so funny. I was wondering where the "pled/pleaded" came from. Lol

PS - (I use "pled" also)
