Do you accept AI controlled automated cars, Why or why not?

I can't wait, maybe then the roads will not be as dangerous.

No, I won't drive one. There have been a bunch of accidents related to parking. I also don't like the idea of a programmer potentially making ethical decisions on my behalf.

Forty-thousand people died in fatal accidents in the US in 2016.  Clearly human intelligence is not enough to manage an automobile.  Artificial intelligence is definitely worth giving it a try.  There will still be accidents but probably due to a different array of causes.  If fatalities go down, it will have been worth it.

Actually, they are building  interstate roads with rails to accommodate the big rigs. Its scary, but true.

Kinda makes you wonder if they're trying to phase out most of humanity or at the least, control us.

No, they're already here. Last year the first self-driving truck picked up a load in Fort Collins CO and delivered it to Colorado Springs CO. This post was edited by Livvie at January 15, 2018 3:02 PM MST

You are correct, when I looked for "self driving trucks" I found plenty.

Shouldn't they still have someone in the cab to supervise the computer in case it freaks out?
It sounds like a disaster waiting to happen if they don't have someone in there. Kind of like with planes, you still need a pilot even with autopilot.

I thought so too, but apparently there is a way to drive without a driver. Im not sure how that works though.

Well, then that's just a bad idea methinks. Especially considering how big they are so if the computer glitches there's gonna be chaos..

Not for me, it would require a blind faith in technology I just don't have. I know how computers are..
But I think it would be nice to have that option for old or disabled people, and alcoholics too.
That way I can drive my own car more safely and they can have a better option for themselves.
It's a win/win. Yay! This post was edited by Patchouli at January 17, 2018 9:20 AM MST
