Are you celebrating "National Night Out"?( Meet your neighbors.)

I am an insanely private person.  I don't want to know my neighbors.  I have met some, I like some and I want to not associate too much with others.   I have zero in common with them.  So I really have to be in the mood to chit-chat.

I don't like having to be obligated in the social niceties that go with being neighbors and friends.   I don't want to go OUT with them.  I don't want to have dinner with them.  I want to be alone and have dinner with me.

I have been fortunate to have a neighbor that I do love that is only here part-time.  She lives right next-door and she is a lot like me.  Friendly, but private; so she understands and we respect each other.   We do socialize, but I don't have to worry about her bothering me for favors I do not wish to execute.   I can think of nothing more irritating than having people just knock on my door when I am not expecting company and do not wish to entertain.  They want attention and they want my time.  I don't want to give it.    I am a good 20 years younger and I am not retired and bored. 

Never heard of it. Another silly made up holiday? Can I get greeting cards for it?

Such fun, so exciting.

E., there are cards for everything. I just got here yesterday and all the plans were already made. I think my neighbors are in the tip with everything. They are really cool---the ones I know. I'm sure someone made fliers.

No. I hate where I live.

S., if you had cool neighbors like I do, you would come. They are all ages and are so fun to be with. We have block parties at least once every two months. We don't visit each other at other times. Yes, everybody works and busy. But, when we get together we visit. Once I entertained then by playing the piano. Now that I got my guitar out of storage, maybe I'll jam with a few that play guitar.

No but block parties are great for really getting to know your neighbors. Have fun Cheers!

Sadly, no. Once upon a time, in another land, I went to a block party, had a leetle too much to drink, and misbehaved. The net result is I was banned.

The neighborhood I'm in now doesn't but I'm ready if they do (insert sinister laugh here).
