Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Are you very excellent, very mediocre or very lousy at responding to emails? If the e-mail is time-sensitive do you ignore it anyway? Why?
((hugs)) I am ANAL about it tom. Of course the spam email I just delete but that's the first thing I do every morning when I get on the computer. Check the incoming email. I may not respond at that minute but I do respond on that day and if it is time-sensitive I respond right away. Of course some folks have jobs where they get dozens of emails or maybe even hundreds and maybe all of them contain requests for something. That would be very time-consuming. I'm not one of them. I'm retired. So the email I get from family/friends are friendly...just chatting to touch base or asking for some information. I mean it's like not checking your snail mail. Some folks don't do that daily. They have a mail box that isn't attached to their homes bit om spe central location for the neighborhood and they have to make an effort to go to them. How they can be so nonchalant and incurious is beyond me! Thank you for your reply. I think responding promptly shows respect as well. It means the person is important enough to you to pay attention. SIGH. :)
I am ANAL about it m2c. I check it the first thing EVERY morning. I am offended when I email someone and and days later when the reason I emailed in the first place has passed I get a response. By then I just don't give a sh** any longer. It is a matter of respect in my opinion. It means you don't think the person is important enough to respond to in a timely manner. Different strokes. Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday! :)
lol I try to be good, but I saw this question and went to my inbox and responded to three I should have responded to already. Two more to go. I guess that makes me bad. :/
My brain gets scattered. I jump between here, work, and personal stuff, and have a bazllion irons in the fire at all times. I should schedule time for emailing, but I don't. Urgent and quick ones, I tend to respond to right away, sometimes within minutes or an hour or so. Other stuff... it could be a couple of days or worse.
((hugs)) Thank you JA. I think it shows disrespect and it is impolite as well. It means you don't think the person is worthy of your attention. It means the person isn't important enough to you to respond in a timely manner. Of course if you are inundated with dozens or hundreds of emails on a daily basis and they are all requiring something of you it can be impossible to get back to all of them ASAP. But I'm retired. I have no such excuse. I check my email first thing every morning and read it. I may not respond at that moment but I will respond that day. If it is time-sensitive I immediately respond. I delete the crappy spam without reading it of course. Different strokesl Thank you for letting me know that I performed a service to those to whom you responded. They will never know but we do! That was very kind of you to tell me! Happy Saturday m'dear! :) ((hugs)) The double hugs are there because I just felt like it! :)
I check my email before I leave for work because I can't access my personal email account from the office. I am on top of my work emails and I check my emails when I get home. I am on and off the computer at home so there are emails that I will not see for a couple of hours, but I respond to them as soon as I can.
