    The story is that the first name considered was Montague Mouse - I don't know whether this accords with your information Stu. I suspect a case could be made for some kind of unpleasant latent prejudice in the eventual choice.

    The name was originally Mortimer. I think it was Mrs. Disney who suggested the change.
