Everything matters on one level and on another level nothing really does.
I believe in God. Therefore I am grateful for everything that I have experienced. It all matters on that level. On the other hand, anything that happens on this plane is temporary and in that sense, it doesn't matter all that much. Especially the weight we put on things that should not matter as much as they do. When we want heaven, we must detach from the physical.
Hell is longing for the past and the presents we cannot bring with us into the great beyond.
I disagree with the last part of what you said. "Hell is longing for the past". Our beloved cat Tigger who was part of our family for 12 years had to be put down July 25. His organs were shutting down. He lost weight and wasn't eating. The vet said his life could be prolonged with shots for awhile but he would not enjoy any of it. In great sorrow we had him put down. Every day we miss him terribly and LONG for the days when he was alive. We "see" him everywhere he used to hang out. Our hearts are broken and they say "time heals all wounds" but that's a lie. We miss him more and more. So I think HEAVEN is longing for what used to be when things were different and people/pets no longer in your life were part of it. Jim and I will always long for Tigger and our parents and his sister Jo who died years ago and the people we loved dearly who are no longer in our lives. Thank you for your reply Sharon.
