If you ate some you would not know it is turkey because of the smoky flavour. Originally the recipe called for ham shanks which is every bit as good as turkey.
I do pot roast in mine, paired with potatoes, carrots, gravy, etc. I also do taco fillings, both chicken and beef, and some other random stuff. It's not just stews.
I use it all the time. A real fan of it I am. I have a few of different sizes. The little two-quart is perfect for one or two and is the one I use most often. Many days I put one large chicken breast in it. Along with that might just be sliced onions or onions along with sliced kielbasa. Another good way for chicken is to drizzle french salad dressing over it. Yet another is to sprinkle Tone's Ranch Dressing mix over it. (I don't buy Hidden Valley because it has MSG in it). Another good chicken way is to drizzle mustard and/or maple syrup. We also like roast beef cooked in it. I like to sprinkle French's onion soup mix over the roast when I put it in. I add a potato or two to most any meat that I put into the crock. I have started doing my baked potatoes in the crock pot too. I wanted a toaster oven just for baking potatoes because I hate letting the oven stay on for an hour just for a couple of potatoes, but we love baked potatoes. I wash them and puncture with a fork and wrap in foil. I just put them in the crock on high for three or four hours. The house doesn't get heated up and I save on electricity and I have good baked potatoes. I don't care for microwaved ones. In fact, I don't cook in the microwave much at all.

I've done chicken, but usually with barbecue or salsa- the French dressing idea sounds good too though. I've used it in the oven- just never occurred to me to crock pot it.
When you say ranch dressing mix, is that a powdered mix? I've used the Hidden Valley one for stuff, but had no idea about the MSG. If so, how do you do it in the crock pot? Do you add water or something else to it?
The potato idea is really cool too. I've never tried that, but I will now. Thanks!
You've probably seen Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix in the envelope where the gravy mixes are. Well, it has MSG which I'm not able to eat. Tone's is another brand of spices (like McCormick) that caters to restaurants I think. I buy it at Sams Club and Amazon in big 24 oz jars. I buy their granulated garlic, granulated onion, and ranch dressing mix. I just sprinkle it on meat before baking or crocking. It gives you instructions on how to use it to make ranch salad dressing and ranch dip. We like all of those uses. Oh, and mixing a little of it in with burgers is good.
