What animal species extinguished during the existence of mankind

would cause you greatest excitement were a remnant colony of the supposedly extinct species to be found tomorrow? 
[As previously occurred with the Black-footed ferret, the Takahe, etc.]

    Yes, isn't it one of the most depressing things to come across the stuffed carcass of some extinct bird in a museum of natural history?
