Nope. The American People do that ... by being unwilling to spend the money necessary for it. Hell, we don't even want to spend money necessary for education or health care.
Real estate industry would LOVE if government provided "free housing" for all. Just imagine all the "cost overruns" they could get! And they wouldn't have to rely on people wanting to buy houses ... the government would buy them, and force people to live where the government said.
