How is it possible that one semi-literate inarticulate mediocrely intelligent man can lead millions of people around by the nose?

They must be EVEN MORE semi-literate,  EVEN MORE inarticulate and even more mediocrely intelligent to have fallen prey to that. It is a remarkable achievement by an unremarkable person. He saw how easy it would be to fleece them and pull the wool over their eyes and get  them to believe in him and in anything he told them.  He read them and pounced and bought them and owns them. The amazing thing is they think they are winners.

    Because those who are being led are sheep.

    Those who do nothing about him are sheep and worse.

    I am at a loss as to WHAT to do, but I am praying that an answer will appear and soon.

    Keep on truckin' and talking and pointing it out. Do not stop talking. Do not stop caring. The  infamously evil "they" want to wear us out. They want us to get tired and move on. They want us to believe that nothing we say will matter. We must show them how wrong they are. We will keep it up. We will RAMP IT UP. We will shove it up their respective arses and not stop. Evil is something that has to be acknowledged/confronted/fought 24/7. Even if it means to the death. You do not roll over. You do not despair for one day.  The resistance is growing and there is much that is being planned. More women will be running for political office. The BLUE WAVE may well become a TSUNAMI. I want to be part of it and I know you do too. There is no way in he** I"m gonna ever throw in the towel. People don't have to read what I have to say. I don't care one way or the other. What I do care about is calling the bas**rds out every day in every way I can. When they stop I will stop and we all know they won't stop. So as long as my batteries don't run down I'm gonna be a flashlight directed at them.     Every insult he flings is a direct result of trying to deflect the countless atrocities he has committed that could get him impeached.  Now we are to get grossly upset by a parade honoring killing on the 4th of July.   This is pissing everyone off.  This is also getting the media pointed towards that story rather than his being grilled by Mueller.

    Well are you looking for someone who quotes Shakespeare and Balzac and Moliere and Greek philosophers?  Very few U.S. presidents read that stuff.  Calvin Coolidge I know liked to read Latin and Greek but that was years ago.  Is that what impresses you?  And how do you measure one's "intelligence" - by your gut feeling?   Or by how much they agree with you?  What is your criteria?  The most intelligent person in the world may not necessarily be able to do anything because takes a lot more than just that.  Just as their are different kinds of intelligence - people smarts, ability to persuade or sell, good head for figures, practicality, etc. And something I have tried to point out to you before that you may not choose to think about is that most people are not looking for a "leader" to "follow".  Most people are not so fascinated and addicted to personalities in government.  Most people just want to live their lives the way they choose with as little interference from anything called "government" as possible.  People are capable of running and enjoying their own lives and own existences without waiting for anything called "government" to tell them what to do!
