He never wanted to be President. He may think he does, but his inner-Trump is running the show and making him fail. He does not want this gig. It is far easier to lose and blame and shout from the background and do mischief that way, than EVER admit he doesn't have one thought of what it takes to be dragged through the mill like this on a daily basis in front of the world and HATED like he will be.

And it's irrelevant as SHE'S not running for the office of President, her husband is. And that brings us to the next point. Being married to a US citizen gives her a pathway to permanent residency status (temporary for 2-years, then permanent) and an easier path to citizenship. Although after seeing what those people have to go through it looks to be a WHOLE lot easier to just come across the Mexican border.
What you neglected to say is that it's also kinda like Trump and others saying that President Obama is Kenyan and a socialist. That's OK, even if it's not true and doesn't make him look stupid for all his bitching about illegal immigrants, Trump has said and done plenty of other dumb things to make one wonder whether he really wants to win.
