Some folks won't "do" if there is no reward/medal/fame/attention paid them. I guess they don't believe the real reward is in the doing not the getting something for doing. Agree/dis/why?

What wouldn't those folks 'do'? Be more specific about the verb.

 I used to have a bunch of trophies, but I tossed most of them. They signify achievement in the human search for improvement. Not a bad thing. Improving our kind is beneficial.
