If someone says "you were elected because you are black" how is that not about race?

Although it shouldn't have, it seems that pretty much everything today has become either political. racial, or politically correct. One side or the other feels that it's necessary to shove all three down our throats because they think us common folks are too stupid to know the differences or to think for ourselves. Sad thing is, many of us are letting them get away with it.

I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer on some subjects but I do try to keep up with current events. Sometimes though I hesitate to speak out because I may inadvertently offend someone. I try to use candor when I speak but also try not to offend at the same time. Hard to do but it can be done. Good gravy, the problems we face each day are bad enough without fighting among ourselves. My opinion of course. :)

Your opinion is welcome here ru. It is thoughtful, cogent and respectful. Qualities I admire greatly. As you know by now I expect  I never hesitate to speak out. Because if I do stifle it all the questions battling in my head to get out would undoubtedly do me in. So I ask and I talk and I opine. What else is left to me? I have no power at all to change anything. I do have the power to observe, think, speak so I use it. I'm glad you use yours too.  SIGH.  Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday! :) About inadvertently offending people. There are some folks whose ONLY job it is to be offended and lash out. You cannot avoid them. They breed like bunnies and are everywhere. You owe it to yourself to say what you think when you choose to speak out. Otherwise why bother? :)

Unfortunately, the word "race" is used imprecisely around the world:

.....scientists around the world continue to conceptualize race in widely differing ways, some of which have essentialist implications.[17] While some researchers use the concept of race to make distinctions among fuzzy sets of traits or observable differences in behaviour, others in the scientific community suggest that the idea of race often is used in a naive[12] or simplistic way,[18] and argue that, among humans, race has no taxonomic significance by pointing out that all living humans belong to the same species, Homo sapiens, and (as far as applicable) subspecies, Homo sapiens sapiens.[19][20]
    (Wikipedia)

While race and ethnicity share an ideology of common ancestry, they differ in several ways. First of all, race is primarily unitary. You can only have one race, while you can claim multiple ethnic affiliations. You can identify ethnically as Irish and Polish, but you have to be essentially either black or white.

As you may recall on other threads I have said there is only one race...the human race. The dictionary splits humans into three groups...CAUCASIAN, NEGRO, MONGOLOID. Just as the world is  Animal, Vegetable or Mineral. Then we have the subsets within each classification. We refer to color a lot. Black a lot. Color of skin is important to us. It segregates us. Here is the puzzlement and I have asked it before but I don't think on Answermug. Why do  WHITE women curl their hair, botox their lips, darken their skin with tas to look like their sisters who are all that naturally and then feel superior to them? Can you answer me that? Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday!  :)
