    When Trump was admitting  he lied  he still lied. He said  Trudeau said - Don there is no trade defisit. Truedeau would not of called him Don he would of called him Mr. Trump or Mr. President.  Trump probably  formed his lie that way to make it seem like there good freinds on a first name basis.
