I think the slavery scenario is worse. With leather the animals meat is eaten, unfortunately furs are different and the animal is usually killed just for that alone. I myself would never have a leather couch, if you have company and you discharge gas, it will sound like a top fuel dragster!!! Whoa!!!
No. It is NOT a tie.
Leather is an issue and I don't like slaughterhouses nor bad treatment of animals. That is beyond bad.
But capturing a thinking, breathing brother of your own species and ruining their chances of any freedom of choice is WORSE.
Here is why. The animal does not consciously feel and think about it's condition. It endures and just exists in hell.
But a person? They are watching every moment of their lives and realizing that there is NO HOPE whatsoever. And it goes on and on and on. The animal usually gets killed before most of it's poor life is taken to the limits of endurance. The animal does not realize the condition like a person does. The animal does not see the horror and betrayal of his fellow creatures reaping rewards as their own lives go down the drain for no better reason than they are surrounded by evil.
If you cannot see that, I am scared for you.
But I am not dismissing how HORRID animal abuse is. It is up there with man's most horrendous behaviors.
(I have some leather shoes. I do not own slaves, I need to get rid of them and wear cloth or I am a hypocrite, but I am not a slave-dealer nor owner)
