  • I mean “cause white people are scum huhrr durr” or other ignorant sh*t like that.

And it’s not racist to state facts. Majority of mass shootings are carried out by white males. Sorry.

Because black people shoot up things that matter, like to ROB you of something they NEED. Not to just blast kids for no other reason than you had a bad day.

Black people are practical.  They rob you for profit.

    (is this racist?)

I could not find school shooting data. But mass shooting broke down by race:

Number of incidents (97 from 1982 to Feb 2018)
    Native American 3
    Unknown 3
    Other 5
    Latino 7
    Asian 7
    Black 16
    White 56
    97 mass shootings total.

    The population breaks down:

    White alone (V2016)(a) 76.9%
Black or African American alone, percent, July 1, 2016, (V2016)(a) 13.3%
American Indian and Alaska Native alone, percent, July 1, 2016, (V2016)(a) 1.3%
    Asian alone, percent, July 1, 2016, (V2016)(a) 5.7%
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone, percent, July 1, 2016, (V2016)(a) 0.2%
Two or More Races, percent, July 1, 2016, (V2016) 2.%

So comparing the rates black people make up 13% of the population but commited 16% of the mass shootings.

I guess technically even though white males are committing the majority of these shootings the numbers are proportionate to their percentage of the American population.
It also seems to apply to the other ethnicities as well.
So I guess white men are not really more likely to commit a mass shooting than any other man of any other ethnicity. America just has more white men.
Then the real question should be "Why has America had so many school/mass shootings?"

Actually again if you look at the stats USA is not at the top of the list. If you take into account the larger population.

Here’s the list of the 18 countries with the top death rate per million people from mass public shootings from 2009 through 2015:

    1. Norway: 1.888
    2. Serbia: 0.381
    3. France: 0.347
    4. Macedonia: 0.337
    5. Albania: 0.206
    6. Slovakia: 0.185
    7. Switzerland: 0.142
    8. Finland: 0.132
    9. Belgium: 0.128
    10. Czech Republic: 0.123
    11. United States: 0.089
    12. Austria: 0.068
    13. The Netherlands: 0. 051
    14. Canada: 0.032
    15. England: 0.027
    16. Germany: 0.023
    17. Russia: 0.012
    18. Italy: 0.009

So again...it is not comparing apples to apples.

I'll be honest that those numbers and that article seem a lot like political posturing. An attempt to pretend that America doesn't have a "Mass shooting or gun violence problem."
As if what has happened and all of the lives lost is somehow expected per capita.
I would seriously investigate how many gun deaths America has had in comparison to other high income counties and I would also check the Rate of gun ownership in the US as opposed to the other high income countries.
I think it is possible for both sides to find ways to produce graphs that would support their position, especially when you talk about comparing vast numbers per million and countries that have different issues, but I think at this point the fact that America has a gun violence, mass shooting, school shooting problem is one thing everyone should agree on.

Gun deaths per captia we are higher than many. But we also have not disarmed our citizens. For example, Australia banned guns. Naturally they have less shootings. But their suicide by hanging increased and both their assault and sexual assault increased.

I agree that they have less shootings.
I don't understand the correlation between less guns = more sexual assaults.
I guess that would be the right's argument that less guns = less safe.
I don't know if the data across the board would support that though.
As well, I don't know that the answer to every assault or mugging/ home break in is to shoot and kill someone.
I guess that's possibly the fundamental difference is between the right and the left.

Agree or don't the information is from the Australian gov website. The correlation of less guns = more assaults both physical and sexual is simply because they criminal knows the possible victim is not armed.
    Victim= Sitting Duck

Homicide has decreased by nine percent since 1990 and armed robbery by one-third since 2001, but recorded assaults and sexual assaults have both increased steadily in the past 10 years by over 40 percent and 20 percent respectively. The rate of aggravated assault appears to have contributed to the marked rise in recorded assault, and for both assault and sexual assault the rate of increase was greater for children aged under 15 years, with increases almost double that of the older age group.
