" Just give them the money and power and they can go either way as well. "
Not even necessary.
Blacks are racist towards their own.
If their skin the wrong shade (either too black or not enough).
If they date/marry outside their ethnicity.
If they live in the wrong area of town (either too poor or too rich).
The whole irony about racism based on skin color is ... as different ethnics interbreed, the skin color lightens.
It actually lightens to "white".
Of course, the darker the original skin pigment the more generations it takes.
(Ever hear the phrase "high yellow"? Or the song "Yellow Rose of Texas"?
Both refer to someone of mixed African / Caucasian heritage.)
It is also part of the reason many blacks are bigoted against other blacks, who have lighter/darker skin than their own.
I would say President Lincoln would be close.
Though I think it's sad that we celebrate Dr King as if he was the only force of the Civil Rights Movement.
We should celebrate everyone who participated.
I mean, yes, Dr King was a strong speaker ... but without those who "crossed the lines", nothing would have changed.
The same with the "women's suffrage" movement.
If you think about it - it is why the Civil Rights Movement bogged down so much after Dr King's assassination. Because everybody viewed him as the only leader, and nobody really stepped up to "carry the flag" after his death.
