I don't set my expectations too high. I guess you could say that I'm a realist in that sense. When I do set my expectations to a certain level and they don't turn out, I blame only myself because I set them higher than what I can achieve as an individual. A long time ago, I came to grips with the fact that I'm just not very good at some of the things I expected to excel at. And I'm okay with that. I'm blessed and happy with what I do have. :)
I believe we are all AVERAGE. Everyone is excellent in some areas, mediocre in some areas and lousy in some areas. Put that all together and divide by 3 and you get average. Which is why I get ticked off at those who think they are better than others simply because they excel at something others don't! So what? Even a genius has flaws and is inadequate and even a person of very modest intellect is fantastic at some things. We're all human. We're all imperfect. Period. I know my strengths and weaknesses. As I get older they are more obvious to me. I don't mind being average since everyone is. We're just average in different ways which is what makes life more interesting. However how we treat one another matters a lot. I think being KIND trumps being honest and being honest/truthful is very important to me. I have to know what I can count on in others and honesty is something that is not negotiable. You click with folks who share traits with you. I don't mean YOU specifically but in general I think that's true. I love unicorns and quantum physics and science fiction and jazz and classical music. When I meet someone who enjoys some of the same things we click on that level. That's natural. I think I'm very average except for one area. I'm very curious and I never run out of questions to ask. Usually I ask about things that make no sense to me. There are a lot of them. I ask because I hope they make sense to others and they can explain the "why" to me. Otherwise there is nothing distinctive or unique about me. I expect civility and honesty. I try very hard to always give that. I always hope to get that. Thumbnail biography. Thank you for your thoughtful reply ru.
Music-wise, I like smooth jazz, classical, and the old majestic hymns they used to sing in church. When I was around 8 years old I discovered and fell in love with the science of Astronomy. I still love it to this day. In school I loved English Literature, American History, and Government Class. Liking Government Class made the other kids scratch their heads because they hated it. I also ask a lot of questions. That's helped me to learn a lot of things over the years. I was taught at an early age to respect people, especially my elders and the ladies. :)
