Ad libs. Some are very good at making things up as they go along. Quick-witted, inventive, creative, imaginative. Some aren't. Are you?

Comedians who ad lib like Robin Williams did are the ver best at what they do. They go with the flow and pick up on their surroundings and play to that. Sad that his depression was so severe he ended his own life. Are comedians all sad inside and use the comedy to feel alive? It would be very sad if true. That their pain is what causes them to bring joy to others. Wouldn't it?

Something you sometimes have to do.

For me it's improvising at the organ eg Fugue on 'oh why are we waiting' before a wedding service.

You play the organ Malizz? I played piano for 4 years from ages 8-12. The organ seems infinitely more complicated. Multiple keyboards at different levels and foot pedals and swtiches and dials to manipulate. Was it very hard to learn?  Ever improve on a jazz riff? What's your favorite kind of music to listen to others play? Is it also your favorite music to play? Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday!  :)

Not to mention keeping tabs on and fitting the music to the words of hymns and leading not dragging the congregation. I was fortunate enough to have a very simple organ in my first post and learned these aspects on the job effectively. The pedals can free up your hands for such things as turning pages, changing stops and conducting.

I like listening to classical and choral music, although ragtime features in my piano practice, somewhat hindered by the TV being in the same room.
