    No it's not progress. Liberty can only be maintained if monopolies are killed to prevent any one group getting too powerful.

    If the growth of such monsters is unchecked, we will eventually end up with a single corporation or a cartel that makes everything and employees everyone. It would be a de facto world government dictatorship at that point.

    You get a good deal from the monsters NOW, because they're still trying to kill their competition. However once have won and achieved a monopoly, they'll raise prices as high as the market can bear. They'll pay everyone peanuts and all we'll do is spend our pittance into the "company store".

    We have dozens of 'mom and pops', They all have a loyal following. It's the major companies that are shutting down, like Sears an JC Penney etc.
