Like hot peppers? Ever get a "thunderclap" headache from eating one? Ever hear of the Carolina Reaper? Guess how HOT it is?

It is supposedly the hottest pepper in the world measuring OVER 2 million Scoville units. The Habanero measures about 500,000  Scoville Units. That's how they measure HOT. So a guy enters a hot  pepper eating contest and eats a whole Carolina Reaper. Immediately gets the heaves. Then crushing pain in the neck and head. It passed. Until it kept returning. He finally went to the Emergency Room at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, New York for treatment. When a pepper is that hot how does it have any flavor/taste?

Death wish? Masochists? I dunno Ele but it sure doesn't make sense. Maybe that is a new EXTREME SPORT. The point is not to win anything but to just survive! Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday! :)

Groups are crossbreeding various types of chilies to develop increasingly hotter ones just to say they did. Extreme sport? I think so.

Congratulations to you Rosie on the funniest post I have read in years and happy Wednesday!  Every time I read it I have to laugh out loud.  I think I will stay away from them.  But doubtless your 'advertisement'  will lead some people to try it.  Actually I love hot peppers though I did not grow up with them.  But not in just everything.  But I use them say two or three times a week in cooking with greens, in stews, and in tacos, fried or Mexican rice.  Also in corn bread.
