Saying you are a "friend" or calling others "friends" on a personal scale is very different from the Political use of the word. Isn't it?

How can countries whose goals may be opposing ever be "friends"? We KNOW our "friends" spy on us as we spy on them. How friendly is that? Is it because we know a friend can become a foe instantly and so we are always suspicious, on guard and checking them out and testing them as we are always being checked out, tested? So it's all playacting then. Pretentious. Fake. Phony. Superficial. Air kisses. Nothing there inside or out but air. :(
