It’s a bacterial disease of citrus trees that causes the leaves to deform and turn yellow, prevents the fruit from ripening and renders it salty and inedible, and causes the trees to die 3 to 5 years after infection onset. It’s caused by a microscopic insect.
I believe it will be saved. I know UF is in ongoing research about it. There is no cure but there has been some success at the genetic level by introducing some part of other plants into the citrus............this is stuff I don't understand because it is sciencey and I am not. I eat a clementine most every day so I have high hopes for the success of eliminating the infecting bacteria that is transported by insects.
