No real confessions to make other than the fun times with other couples when I was a young sailor. Oh...I retired from two careers. This post was edited by Element 99 at April 26, 2018 9:27 PM MDT

When I was aboard ship at sea one of my duties was to stand one hour as port or starboard lookout on the bridge. When relieved I would report to the officer-of-the-watch "able seaman (me) relieved by able seaman (him),all objects in sight reported, permission to carry on, sir"? During the dark hours the officer couldn't see who I was anyway so I would use the other lookout's name (Grog) for reporting off duty then when the other guy was reporting off duty the officer would say "what!.. there 2 lookouts named able seaman Grog"?
One time I got caught and was called back up to the bridge."why did you use the other guy's name"?
"Why does it matter whose name,  Sir, there is no written notation"
"Just don't do it again or you'll walk the plank!"
    "Aye aye, sir".

I was a weapons trade but we're required to do deck watches, lookout, bosun's mate, lifebouy sentry and helmsman -4 hour watches but 1 hour at each different position. This post was edited by Kittigate at May 3, 2018 6:16 PM MDT
