Sort of - when I was in high school, I had a part-time job.  When I finished my work and was walking home, there was a thunderstorm and I had no umbrella.  After a few blocks, I was pretty well soaked and all of a sudden, there was a bolt of lightning that made me feel warm from head to toe.  Naturally, I ducked into a doorway, but realized that I must have come pretty close to being hit by lightning.  It was pretty scary.

One summer day, years ago, I was standing inside my garage with the overhead door open. A thunderstorm was flashing away outside. Suddenly, a bolt of lightning crashed nearby and you could see blue streaks of electricity flowing down the rails that support the rollers of the door.

Oh my gosh L that probably means when there is thunder and lightening you probably recall that close call. Yikes! Glad you weren't hit. I think people who are can and do survive it but often there is some permanent damage done. Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday! :)

I remember once we were driving and it was raining where we were and off  in the distance there were seemingly continuous lightening strikes and thunder for a very long time. It was scary. Also one time in Hemet there was thunderous clap that seemed to be right over our house! It was VERY NOISY! It can be beautiful to watch if you are safe and far away from it. Kinda like fireworks! Thank you for your reply L and Happy Monday! :)

I would consider that surviving my childhood would qualify.

It  is very sad that you experienced something so unpleasant but I am very glad you survived it. Ever wonder whom you would be if your childhood had been the opposite of what it was tom? Thank you for your reply and Happy Sunday! :)

I started having chest pain left side during the night but stopped after about 20 minutes. I was sure it wasn't my heart but went to see doc next day, he sent me to a clinic for tests. A short fairly intense pain was occuring every night. Mentioned that to my friend Mimi about chest pain and she insisted I go to emergency; "you must take chest pain seriously" they did MRI scan nothing showed cause of chest pain but a shadow showed on my left side. Wow! Stage 1b lung cancer. Removed by surgery and more than 2 years later now still in remission.
Chest pain likely muscle cramp still occurs occasionally but were not for that and my friend  Mimi the cancer would have progressed. This post was edited by Kittigate at May 1, 2018 1:04 PM MDT

Well... back in late August of 1992, my mom and I were vacationing in southern Florida when who should happen to make an appearance but good old Hurricane Andrew—yes, THAT Hurricane Andrew.  But, here I am today telling you about it, thus the "survival" part :)
