The meek shall inherit the earth.
What ye do to the least of mine ye do to me
It is easier for a camel to walk through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God
Love thy neighbor as thyself
Suffer the little children to come unto me

The devil can cite scripture for his purpose.

It is the left that lacks perspective. The bible is not a socialist document. It preaches CHARITY, not socialism. The left only point to verses that promote charity and caution against greed. You falsely imply this endorses socialism. It does not. Stop acting like the state is only thing in the world with any agency. You act like unless the state takes care of everything, by dominating everyone, nothing will get done. You can't find a single instance in the bible where Jesus took from someone by force and gave it someone else.

It is important to understand the definition of certain words in their proper historical context. Take "Love thy neighbour as thyself" for example. 2000 years ago people lived in small social communities. Everyone knew each other. They were truly neighbours. In the modern world, communities are too large for people to know each. Many people try to exploit the generosity of the community and it goes unnoticed. The bible is clear that exploiting the generosity of society is not to be tolerated. Everything is a two way street.

"For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat." 2 Thessalonians 3:10

The bible cautions against envy just as much as greed. The left is motivated by envy, and sadistic desire to dominate others, not compassion.

"A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot." Proverbs 14:30 This post was edited by Zeitgeist at April 29, 2018 6:28 AM MDT

Certainly the Bible does not condone sloth, but neither does it condone exploitation of the abject poor by the offensively wealthy. It does promote equality - and if the rich WON'T (and they don't - they even fail to "render unto Caesar", employing batteries of lawyers and accountants to exploit every possible loophole to evade tax), then the State must.
Abolition of the Pauper's Oath as a prerequisite for receipt of welfare was a bad idea. Middle class welfare is bleeding Western economies white.
