Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Being confused is no fun. Understanding is comforting. How do you KNOW the difference between thinking you get it and actually getting it?
Some things some of us will never get. The important things like understanding God's word can be understood if we are humble, prayerful and diligent.
(Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14) The conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: Fear the true God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole obligation of man. 14 For the true God will judge every deed, including every hidden thing, as to whether it is good or bad.
(Proverbs 2:1-7) My son, if you accept my sayings And treasure up my commandments, 2 By making your ear attentive to wisdom And inclining your heart to discernment; 3 Moreover, if you call out for understanding And raise your voice for discernment; 4 If you keep seeking for it as for silver, And you keep searching for it as for hidden treasures; 5 Then you will understand the fear of Jehovah, And you will find the knowledge of God. 6 For Jehovah himself gives wisdom; From his mouth come knowledge and discernment. 7 He treasures up practical wisdom for the upright; He is a shield for those walking in integrity.
(Isaiah 48:17) This is what Jehovah says, your Repurchaser, the Holy One of Israel: “I, Jehovah, am your God, The One teaching you to benefit yourself, The One guiding you in the way you should walk.
(1 John 5:20) But we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us insight so that we may gain the knowledge of the one who is true. And we are in union with the one who is true, by means of his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and life everlasting.
(Luke 11:9-13) So I say to you, keep on asking, and it will be given you; keep on seeking, and you will find; keep on knocking, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone asking receives, and everyone seeking finds, and to everyone knocking, it will be opened. 11 Indeed, which father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will hand him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he also asks for an egg, will hand him a scorpion? 13 Therefore, if you, although being wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more so will the Father in heaven give holy spirit to those asking him!”
Thank you for your thoughtful and comprehensive reply tex. Here's what I worry about. If I think I understand something but I really don't then what I do/say won't be the right thing because the premise is all wrong. I know I don't understand many things and never will. I accept that. It's the things I "THINK" I understand that I don't that scare me. :)
Just be humble as your comment reflects and if you are drawn in to a conversation that you have an opinion about but are not certain you are correct, just say something like: "I am not positive but I believe..." or as a friend of mine often says: "don't quote me on this but I understand ...". lol
That is very helpful tex . I often say "just my opinion" or "I only speak for me, no one else". Here's what I mean. An example. I think of NO COLLUSION don juan as treasonous and evil. Millions of people adore him and think he is just great. Now what if I'm wrong and they're right? I believe I am right about how evil he is without a doubt but what if I'm wrong? Thank you for your reply m'dear and Happy Friday! :)
Man was not designed to rule over man. No president or king has ever been able to satisfy the needs and wants of all of their subjects. Based on the Bible’s unfailing prophecies, conditions of this age will worsen, until God steps in and replaces all human rulerships with his Kingdom.—Daniel 2:44; Matthew 24:6-8, 14.
(Ecclesiastes 5:8, 9) If you see any oppression of the poor and a violation of justice and righteousness in your district, do not be surprised about the matter. For that high official is being watched by one who is higher than he is, and there are others who are still higher than them. 9 Also, the profit of the land is divided among them all; even the king is served by the field.
(Jeremiah 10:23) I well know, O Jehovah, that man’s way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step. (Psalm 146:3) Do not put your trust in princes Nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation. (Psalm 62:9) The sons of men are a mere breath, The sons of mankind are a delusion. When laid together on the scales, they are lighter than a mere breath. (Psalm 118:8, 9) It is better to take refuge in Jehovah Than to trust in humans. 9 It is better to take refuge in Jehovah Than to trust in princes. (Isaiah 2:22) For your own sakes, quit trusting in mere man, Who is only the breath in his nostrils. Why should he be taken into account? (Jeremiah 17:5) This is what Jehovah says: “Cursed is the man who puts his trust in mere humans, Who relies on human power, And whose heart turns away from Jehovah.
(Daniel 2:44) “In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. And this kingdom will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it alone will stand forever, (Matthew 24:6-8) You are going to hear of wars and reports of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for these things must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. 8 All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress. (Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
How else do you establish a society if there are no leaders? Without structure chaos would ensue wouldn't it tex? Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday! :)
Yes, that is the way it is now but it wasn't that way before the rebellion in Eden nor will it be that way in the future. Some rulers are corrupt and even the ones with good intentions don't have the ability to satisfy everyone. Christians are to be in subjection to governments and rules as long as they don't overstep God's laws.
(Titus 3:1) Continue reminding them to be in subjection and to be obedient to governments and authorities, to be ready for every good work, (Romans 13:1-7) Let every person be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God. 2 Therefore, whoever opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God; those who have taken a stand against it will bring judgment against themselves. 3 For those rulers are an object of fear, not to the good deed, but to the bad. Do you want to be free of fear of the authority? Keep doing good, and you will have praise from it; 4 for it is God’s minister to you for your good. But if you are doing what is bad, be in fear, for it is not without purpose that it bears the sword. It is God’s minister, an avenger to express wrath against the one practicing what is bad. 5 There is therefore compelling reason for you to be in subjection, not only on account of that wrath but also on account of your conscience. 6 That is why you are also paying taxes; for they are God’s public servants constantly serving this very purpose. 7 Render to all their dues: to the one who calls for the tax, the tax; to the one who calls for the tribute, the tribute; to the one who calls for fear, such fear; to the one who calls for honor, such honor. (1 Peter 2:13, 14) For the Lord’s sake subject yourselves to every human creation, whether to a king as being superior 14 or to governors as sent by him to punish wrongdoers but to praise those who do good.
(Acts 5:27-29) So they brought them and stood them before the Sanʹhe·drin. Then the high priest questioned them 28 and said: “We strictly ordered you not to keep teaching on the basis of this name, and yet look! you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you are determined to bring the blood of this man upon us.” 29 In answer Peter and the other apostles said: “We must obey God as ruler rather than men.
In the near future, these governments will be done away with and everyone will be under subjection of Jesus. (Ezekiel 21:27) A ruin, a ruin, a ruin I will make it. And it will not belong to anyone until the one who has the legal right comes, and I will give it to him.’ (Genesis 49:10) The scepter will not depart from Judah, neither the commander’s staff from between his feet, until Shiʹloh comes, and to him the obedience of the peoples will belong. (Psalm 89:3, 4) “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant: 4 ‘I will firmly establish your offspring forever, And I will build up your throne for all generations.’” (Selah) (Psalm 110:1) Jehovah declared to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand Until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.” (Isaiah 9:6) For a child has been born to us, A son has been given to us; And the rulership will rest on his shoulder. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 11:10) In that day the root of Jesʹse will stand up as a signal for the peoples. To him the nations will turn for guidance, And his resting-place will become glorious. (Luke 1:32, 33) This one will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and Jehovah God will give him the throne of David his father, 33 and he will rule as King over the house of Jacob forever, and there will be no end to his Kingdom.” (Revelation 5:5) But one of the elders said to me: “Stop weeping. Look! The Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has conquered so as to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
Don't know about that. If we are fortunate we come to some understanding of things in life in our own way. Whether we actually "get" it or not. Many things I know I will never "get" so I tend to stay away from them and leave them for those who do. Or think they do.
