I can't see that. The only other kind of exchange would be through bartering and in order to do that you have to have something to barter with. Without money people would have to enslave themselves to others.
I can only answer for myself. It isn't all that important to me. If it was, I wouldn't have been a sailor and a teacher. So in my future...less. I have enough to keep me without worries and enough for my wife to live out her live without worries if I go before her.
