Is it a fashion crime to wear no-show socks or low-cut socks with boots?

Also inspired by a disagreement my hubby had with his mother.  She called him out for wearing low-cut socks with boots.  He told her she didn't have any room to talk because she was wearing socks with sandals, lol.  Some of their arguments are pretty entertaining.

    I don't see it as a fashion crime at all.
    And, on a guy, low-cut socks and boots sounds like it would be a hot look!

    Not a crime, but quite impractical, the socks creep down to settle around your ankles, and you cannot just reach down and pull them up.
