Curiously odd. Patriotism has been reduced to standing for the National Anthem and respecting a flag. Is it really that simple?

What about respect for The Declaration of Independence? What about respect for The Constitution? What about respect for The Rule of Law? What about respect for the Truth? What about respect for the people and the country? Isn't patriotism less about "photo ops" and kindergarten pronouncements and more about how you treat one another and what you are willing to do for your country? Simplistic pedestrian sophomoric solution. Stand for the anthem. Salute the flag. You're done. That is all that is required of you. You can cheat on your taxes. Lie to your fellow citizens. Take cuts wherever you can get them. Betray anyone anywhere anytime. Just make sure to stand for the anthem and salute the flag. Simple minds tend to settle for simple actions. SIGH. Would that it were true that Patriotism were that simple! :(

No those are only symbolic.  But why disrespect them either?
