Yep. He shelled out $575,000 for a "vacation home" on Lake Champlain. Socialist or capitalist?  Whatcha think about it and why?

    Which part?

Did you like the part where RPF jumped on the OP for simply asking a question, or the part where s/he popped off with a bunch of half-baked accusations and wholly irrelevant information?

    :-)

...And the really sucky part is that, once you pay off the bank, the government still has its claws in your backside.  Wanna find out who owns what?  Just neglect to pay your property taxes for six months or so.

In reality, nobody truly owns their home in America, or in any other country where property ownership is contingent on the payment of taxes.

    Spot on!

Most people don't realize this, but America really does have a two-party system. One, the statist oligarch's party, is comprised of two wings: the fear wing (repugnicans) and the envy wing (demoncrats).

Only one can be readily distinguished from the other: the liberty (Libertarian) party. Sadly, Americans aren't smart enough or ethical enough to go for true freedom.

    1) Because these type of pointed questions carry the implication that Sanders is a sellout, or a hypocrite, or even dipping into campaign funds.

    2) Scrutinize away, but stick to the facts. To suggest that Sanders has just "shelled out" 575K on a summer home is a distortion of the truth. They sold a property that Mrs Sanders has owned for years to pay for this one. Leaving that detail out makes it look like Sanders has hundreds of thousands of dollars readily available to spend frivolously. That's the intent of all these reports about his new house, and Rosie is being a chump by buying into it.

"Simply asking a question" - the cowardly response of the passive-aggressive when called on their insults.

    1) Good answer. Irrelevant, but good answer.  The OP didn't accuse Sanders of anything of the kind.  I'd say he was acting hypocrite-esque, but that's just me and I don't count. :-)

    2) Now THIS criticism is fair enough.

Look up.  I think we've reached resolve here, so I'm gonna ignore this jab. :-)

You would? Why  would you NEED or  WANT two homes Ele? I understand Maine. I lived in East Acton, Mass for 5 years and the east coast, especially New England, is awesomely beautiful. My then mother-in-law owned a cottage on Birch Island off the coast of Maine. Many artsy towns on the coast. Arizona has the GRAND CANYON but the temps get up to 118 in the southern part. Too hot.  The northern part of Arizona is not as hot. Anyway that surprises me because of other answers you have given. Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday!  :)  It's not too late. Maybe one day you will! :)

There are reasons to rent other than inability to afford a home. Some people are away a lot and cannot tend to the yard and everyday maintenance. Apartment utilities run cheaper. Some do not want to commit to 30 years of debt. Some people may anticipate moving and do not want to deal with selling a house. A house takes up a lot of time, money, and energy. Some people, in part due to their own circumstances, prefer to put all that time, money, and energy elsewhere.

In the case of Socialist Bernie, he all but has to have hired property managers doing the upkeep since he cannot be in three homes at once. That is in addition to the half-million he shelled out to acquire the property. One would think that he would be true to his beliefs and would voluntarily give up some of the wealth he has acquired through politics and spread it around to those with less, rather than expend it on more opulence for himself.

  • It should come as no surprise. In any socialist setup or system, the few at the top enjoy advantage and plenty. It's their reward for telling the rest of us how to live. While the rest of the folks adjust to having nothing and gaining nothing, those who preach the loudest have the most.

I can't tell you how disappointed I was to read that Polk. It seemed to completely invalidate his entire political sales pitch. I dunno. I guess I expect too  much. Living up to your words is more than I should hope for...apparently. Thank you for your reply and Happy Saturday! :)

We use escrow as part of the mortgage so taxes are covered. I agree with you although the county does need the money to pay for all of F****** orange cones and barrels.

My mother was from Maine. I have vacationed there in a cottage by Cundy's harbor near Brunswick. Arizona is just an example of somewhere south to spend the winters. I could visit JA and Sharon.

Well here's to receiving your heart's desire m'dear. As for Jim and me we would be thrilled with owning ONE HOME. Preferably a condo at the beach. Any beach. We're not fussy. We are both Scorpios and love the ocean but it costs a lot to live there so we live inland in Hemet..much cheaper and much hotter. Jim's oldest son David and his wife Yolanda live in Buckeye, Arizona and she LOVES hot weather and he hates it! But he loves his wife. For years they lived in Oregon. Can you imagine moving from Oregon to Arizona?  He has experienced 118 degree days. So if Arizona is your cuppa tea may it happen for thee! Thank you for your reply Ele and Happy Monday! :)
