Yes, but not always.  When something bad happens to me or around me, others do tend to be involved.  

Yeah, so, what's the alternative? Hitting yourself in the head with a hammer?

Ok, let's get religious. The book of Job informs us that Satan uses diseases, natural disasters, and other people to do his dirty work. Modern folks firmly insist that science is going to find a cure for every disease, and you haven't been done in by any natural disaster lately, so the only source of badness that you are aware of is other people.
