If you put an industrial fan backwards facing a window, will it suck out all the hot air in the room?

Yes it will blow hot air out the only problem is all the air is hot if you don't have air conditioning.

Good point.  I just needed to suck out some of the hot air that is on the second floor. We dont have air conditioning upstairs where I live. I just use two industrial sized fans, and keep all the windows open. -pant-

Window air conditioners for single rooms are reasonably priced. At least here they are.

Unfortunately, we have numerous elderly people here who cannot afford even one.

We have a window unit up here but it costs over 300 dollars a month to run, just the upstairs. My house is 5,500 square feet and is extremely difficult to keep cool/warm without breaking the bank. My son and I want to move into a smaller place, but find the size nice because we have our own space from each other, (he needs that when living with his Mom) and the house is paid for, so our only cost is taxes and utilities.

You can put one fan pulling hot air out on one side of the house and on the other side a fan drawing the cooler air in.

Air will start to rush in as soon as you make an underpressure. Probably hot air from outside.

But if you have an old refrigerator with no door, and mount it in the window facing inward. Then it will actually make the room colder. This post was edited by JakobA the unAmerican. at June 25, 2018 1:05 AM MDT
