What is the best deal you ever got at a garage/yard sale?

Two days ago we bought a Toro self-propelled lawn mower for $20. It had old gasoline in it. Replace the spark plug, put in fresh fuel, runs like new. A few years ago my wife found a really nice necklace for $25. She told the woman it might be more valuable, but she didn't care. She brought it home and I checked it out...12K gold. A jeweler offered her $400 for it.

    Ooooooooo nice deal on the jewelry. I bought an antique end table for 20 bucks once. It probably would have cost me a couple o hundred at an antique store. ;)

    Wait...you buy the mower for 20, fix it for a dollar and sell it for 100. Then you could hire someone to clean your home. I'm a genius.

    I was driving around looking for garage sales a Saturday one time when I noticed a bunch of stuff on a guy's lawn and he was just proping up a sign: FREE STUFF.  I was just about the first one there so I got a few items free but he also had more stuff inside for sale -I got a 303 Lee Enfield rifle for $25.00. He had a tenant who vanished some time ago and just wanted to get rid of all his belongings.

    Definitely a good deal on the rifle. If my wife goes before I do, I'm going to open the garage door and put a sign up ; 'Every free except that which is marked.'

    Yeah.. well to make a long story short the police confiscated my gun because it was not registered and said I could claim it back but would have to be plugged to make it inoperable. I don't do hunting,  just wanted it for my decor.
