I don't know what you have experienced but in my experiences through the years, I found that true friends haven't, don't and won't abandon each other. Lose contact for a time perhaps but abandon, no. I have had those who claimed to be my friends that went away but I would count that as a blessing because of what I found out about them later. :)
If you understand friendship then you understand it has nothing to do with "loyalty". Others have their own lives to lead so really you can't blame them just for doing that.
