Do big corporations own the US?

Indirectly, yes. "Big corporations" are GOVERNMENT entities.   They're chartered by GOVERNMENT, given 'personhood' rights/status by GOVERNMENT, and protected by GOVERNMENT at the expense of the rights of actual individuals.

I always get a kick out of statist nimrods who think corporations are capitalist entities.  They've about as much to do with capitalism as the Clintons have to do with honesty/integrity and/or Donald Trump has to do with intellectual prowess.

  • Big corporations are a quasi government in their own right owing allegiance to themselves

Exactly...only there's nothing 'quasi' about them.  They are appendages of government.  There's no functional difference between GM and the Department of Transportation.  That's why Obama was operating perfectly within his rights/powers to fire the CEO of same early on in his administration.

If by "own" you mean that big corporations have the economic clout to influence government, with far-reaching implications on the American people in general, then yes.

Yes! Yes! AHHHHH DOWNNN WITH THE MANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. Tearin' down the forests, cementing-over the Earth, and distracting the populous with shiny plastic toys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But........ We buy it!!! We alllowwwww it. WE JUST DON'T SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THERE'S SO MUCH MORE TO LIFE THAN THINGGGGGGGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! F*** FADS, F*** POKEMON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Still need fresh cedar pulp for my ass, though, don't I?)

It's the world. The worldddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd. The global systems that define success of a population by their GDP (gross domestic product) rather than their true satisfaction and health. 'Til we all see just how much we really need, vs. what we want, there can't be enough change. We're all too focused on The Golden Arrow of immediate satisfaction with minimal effort.

  • Own - no.

    Largely control - yes.

Own and control are not the same.
