How do judges get appointed to hear specific cases? By computer? By robots? By short straw? By Pin the Tail on the Donkey?

Judge Ellis who is hearing the Manafort case seems to  me to be a veritable WACKADOODLE DOO. He is harping on FACIAL EXPRESSIONs for god's sake! What the he**? What's going on here? He is making a MOCKERY of the trial. Is that his intention or just to get attention? Is he grandstanding or shilling for the Defense?

    I haven't been watching it.

Not sure how federal courts work, as far as assigning judges.

Locally, it's just a matter of which judge has a calendar opening.

I wonder if they can request specific cases. I think he should be removed from this case or a mistrial declared. While he did finally apologize for his obvious mistreatment of the prosecuters I think he has already tainted the jury and should have his a ** reamed and removed entirely. He is a disgrace. Thank you for your reply Walt! :)

  • Is it facial expressions or the fact that the man wouldn't announce the verdict before opening arguments? Is it a case of making a mockery of the trial, or grandstanding for the defense, or is it more a matter of not getting the due process we want?
