I dont make promises lightly, precisely because I always keep my word. If I cannot then I tell the person and explain what I am going to do to try to make up for it
Here's the thing about that m'dear. Sometimes circumstances over which you have no control change things. For example. You might tell someone you love "I will always be there for you. I will always love you". Then for whatever reason that person changes and turns on you and betrays you. I don't know about you but that would automatically relieve me any such promises. Why would I always be there for and love someone who clearly harmed me and thought so little of me that betrayal came easily? I know some folks say they love unconditionally. I do not understand them. I am not wired like them. Thank you for your reply. Nothing is forever. People change. Situations change. You can only do your best with what you are given and sometimes what you are given is not worth anything. :( Sadly. :(
Exactly true which is why I say that if I cannot keep a promise I will explain why I cannot.. In the case you mention... I agree.. I have had three men who I would have loved forever, I am made that way, had they not betrayed me horribly and/or been so heinous that even though I did still love them I could not stay. I did explain it to them :P
That is where you and I are unalike m'dear. If someone treated me horribly I would STOP LOVING instantly. There would be nothing left of the person I THOUGHT I loved. I know there are different degrees of loving and people love in different ways. I think our capacity to love differs too so that would explain it. Your capacity to love must be greater than mine. Of course I just thought of a question based on our conversation! Thank you for your reply Addb! :)
