Possibly. I find it interesting that in the evolution of American music genres, that both of these artists were heavily influenced by both gospel and and an earthy rhythm and blues style popular in the south. Presley was raised in a Pentecostal denomination and Franklin's father was a minister(I think). At any rate, American music is a hodge podge of influences and styles like no other.
I would like to think so.. but I had a real shock when you said it was 41 years ago that Elvis died!! I can't believe it's been that long... I remember where I was when I heard the news.. it seems way less than 41 years and this makes me feel pretty old.
Ahem... the comment was about not realising how much time had passed.. it seems, (emphasis on the word seems there) as if it were yesterday... this happens to us when we are older I think.. our memories of long ago seem as if they happened yesterday.... This was a case where one didn't need to take things literally..
I heard it on TV sweetie. I don't know from whom cause I was in the other room but someone said "the Queen of Soul died today and the King of Rock died 41 years ago on this very day" so I was taken aback bigly because it didn't seem possible that 41 years had passed. I AM old my friend. It beats the alternative! Thank you for our reply Addb and Happy Friday to thee! :)
