Are you the fan of any sports team that has had years-long losing streaks and/or entire seasons at last place? ~

If so, please name the sport, the team, and if you know it, the last year in which they won a championship.  Thank you.

  • Kinda .. sorta.  I was a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings when Fran Tarkenton was their quarterback.  He led them to four Super Bowls and they lost all four 1970, 1974, 1975, & 1977 and have never returned.  One of the NFL's greatest quarterbacks ... retired without a ring.  :(

The Chicago Cubs. Last World Series won...2016. Prior to that 1908.

My favorite sports memory of all time. The emotions I endured during Game 7. Add the several near heart attacks and strokes and I’m surprised I made it.

The New York Mets! In their inaugural season of 1962, they were the gold standard of losers as they lost their first 11 games before beating the Pittsburgh Pirates and later dropping 17 straight on the way to 40-120. They were better in 1963, only dropping their first nine on the way to 51-111.

Amazingly, they drew big crowds in those early years since NYC was starved for National League baseball after the Dodgers and Giants moved to California in 1958. That's part of why they became known as the Amazin' Mets. The other part was that after finishing 9th or 10th in the old 10-team NL in each of their first seven seasons through 1968, they soared to 100-62 and won the World Series in 1969.

This wasn't years long, but what comes to mind is the 1988 Baltimore Orioles season. They went 0-21 and ended the season in 7th place with a record of 54–107.

Which pales in comparison to the 40-120 New York Mets of 1962.

They’ve come close this year. As of 9/26 they’re 45-112.

The Patriots were the doormat of the NFL, until a nobody by the name Tom Brady came along.

Plus cheating scandals and refs bailing them out. Brady is good. Their head coach isn’t probably the best ever. The scandals and biased officiating shouldn’t be ignored.

Chicago Cubs. They last won the World Series in 2016 ending a 108 year championship drought. Many people died never seeing their favorite team win the World Series. I’ll never forget that night.
