I used to just walk up and down the aisles and pick up what I needed. Invariably, I would get home and realize I missed something, so now I make a list as I go along and when I'm ready to actually go shopping, I have it all written down. It also keeps me from buying something I don't need.
Yes.. actually I don't mind making an extra trip or two to the store because it is a pleasant 7 mile jounney each way on our skytrain, I can't carry all the stuff in one trip anyway, give me something more to do too and lots of attractive young ladies...
I try to spread my errands out over the four days I'm home now that I'm semi-retired. That way, I have something to do each day and it gets me out of the house. :)
