Me? I make up my own truths.

    You’d be a perfect politician.

Perhaps. I make up good answers, too. Most are lies, of course.

    Relative truth or Absolute truth?
The Absolute truth is not one's decision.
It just is, always has been
    and always will be.

  • I don't always know when someone is lying to me.

Truth is the conformity of the mind to that which exists.

Truth is a proper object of study.

With proper training in rational thinking, along with an education in proper values, making reasonable inferences from reality observed makes it relatively easy to find the truth.

I find it difficult that some people find it so difficult to ascertain in certain areas or at certain times.

Truth, in my view, is that which conforms to a common perception of reality; that for which reasonable corroboration is present; that which defies contradiction. This post was edited by Don Barzini at September 9, 2018 11:54 PM MDT

I'm not sure if I should answer because it might not sound truthful to someone else even though it is true to me.

I trust the information that comes in via my physical senses.
I trust the extended sensory information from scientific tools like thermometers, microscopes and telescopes.
    I trust peer-reviewed studies.

When it comes to people I watch for tells.
I aim to develop the special kind of rationality that arises from emotional intelligence -
which doesn't necessarily save me from error.

When it comes to thinking I rely on logic and empirical data.

For me, religion and pseudoscientific beliefs play no part in truth because they demand faith in assertions which cannot be proved.
