Why do people continue to pay such absurd concession prices and ticket for and at concerts and professional sports games?
I can’t justify paying the prices for hot dogs, drinks, etc at these events. In fact I don’t attend sports games in person anymore. I only see a few bands in concert. I refuse to pay these stupid prices.
For any one of a number of reasons, the people who do so have decided that the prices to be paid paid are equal to or greater than the value obtained by the purchaser.
That's pretty reasonable behavior.
My mother, now long deceased, loved herring in sour cream, but she refused to eat it even though I had bought it (I loved and still love it).
(My mother frequently did and said other things that were psychologically understandable but intellectually incomprehensible.)
I can’t call it reasonable to pay $11 for a beer, $5 or $6 for a hot dog, or $7 for a soda with mostly ice. I won’t even start on burgers, pizza, and higher quality food.
People are stupid globally it seems.....for two hours so called Intertainment People allow themselves to be leagaly mugged.... If I was a billionaire I would refuse to pay it... They should be all prosecuted for profitteering ....they are the worst kind of parasites ever..
At certain open air music venues in England,Traders charge £5-10 for 50 milli litres of bottled water.....
Picnics were so much better back then.. :) not that I'm old enough to know....:( Question ? Are you allowed to to take other people's food and drinks to sports and music venues instead then ? :)
Because they can and feel the entertainment or game they are going to see is worth it. Money is so absurd anyway these days. Where I live, people standing on the street even begging for work won't work a day for under $100. When I was growing up, if you made a hundred dollars a day, that was HUGE! BIG Gigantic money!!! Now-a-days, it's expected.
I hear ya, though. I know. The last Dodgers game I went to was $35 for two beers. I flipped out. BUT.... We did Pay it. Only once, but we did. I'll know better next time. Ugh!
Amen to that statement. Let's not forget about parking. I heard all the way home from the stadium how "highway robbery" was being performed and accepted for parking. It was $80. The tickets were given to us but I know they are in the 3-digits per ticket. The whole 8-hour day (that includes driving in traffic) was over 5 hundred bucks. I am sickened by it to this day. WE don't have money like that to spend on an afternoon of entertainment. However, being my dad has Parkinson's disease and the Dodgers have always been his favorite team, for that reason and that reason only, the reason out-weighed the price. If we were just to go to kill an afternoon, FORGET IT!

In England the cheapest is £2-3 pounds....in the City of London ,it's. £5 upwards I'm most shops or coffee chains.... Strangly the many little café are quite cheap to eat in them....most are friendly and very pleasent people... Mores the point,they don't rip people off....
I would guess because they want to attend them. No law says they are obliged to buy hot dogs and mustard or beer, etc. But my guess too is that being at the game or concert and getting a hot dog or whatever is part of the desirable mystique of the experience for them. Which I would leave them to if that is what they enjoy. We pay high prices sometimes for theatre and concert tickets because we enjoy the concerts or operas or shows. Different strokes.
