How old is your cat?

One of my friends lost her cat. It was pretty old. I don't know how long cats live.

Indoor kitty is two years old. Outdoor kitty is a little older than that.

The cat I had previously was older than 16 when she died.

I also had a dog for a little under 16 years, and another dog for 12.

I've been quite lucky with pets so far.

  • My current cats are 2 and 4.

The oldest cat I had died at 19, almost 20.

Since KiKi was a stray and the vet said she was about 3 then she is 8.

I don't know. Every pet I ever had just didn't come home one day.

Between 12 and 20 years.   The 20 is really really rare

Indoor cats can live even longer than that.

It's not unusual for felines to live into their early 20's if they've been reasonably well cared for. (And sometimes even if not; I remember a neighbor of my grandparents that had an old female farm cat, missing one eye, overweight by a lot, made Bill the Cat from Bloom County look like a year old kitten, made it to 24.)

Current mouser (and I use that term euphemistically for the lazy little rascal)  is about 2-years old.

The ones he replaced (three of them) were in their early 20's when they went to that big catnip field in the sky.

The pug was around 17 when I had to put her down. The miniature dachshund was about 6-months older than the pug (she was almost solid white having turned from her original red color) when she had to be eased into the next world.

My oldest right now is about 18.  I have had a few that made it past 20.  Indoor cats have the best chance of living nice long lives.

Same here Piper.  Poor kitty is stone deaf and she does meow a lot because of it.  But she is so sweet and still loves to cuddle.
