Are women more apt to "agree" with a man when they really don't than they are to "agree" with a woman when they don't?
Are women used to giving in to men because it makes their lives easier? They're used to doing that because that's what they've always done since whenever time began. Why upset the apple cart? Why not lie? Who's gonna know? :(
No don't think so. And not sure I think of agreement as "giving in". We agree to facilitate social interaction and to get things done. Which men are pretty good at - as far as organizing themselves for a particular task. While we are more likely to nitpick over who is going to be the leader and who the organizer telling others what to do etc. In a social situation I often agree with the general consensus, whether I do or not, simply because that is a way to move things forward. Many women not only have their own agendas but feel themselves in competition with the rest of us because they conceive that there is not enough to go around. Men are not like that so I am often much better able to express my points of view to them without their being threatened by them. Whereas with women I know better than to because they are more comfortable with solidarity and mutual sympathy rather than anything that they feel threatens that.
Yes, seen it many a time..Indeed there are people who agree with everyone in person but secretly don't agree.. some then moan about it but do nothing.. some just don't do whatever they agreed to... But yes, women tend to agree with men more than other women..It comes from a sense of competition or from believing that women have to behave according to a set of outdated rules..Other women are intimidated by men for various reasons too.
As Officegirl said, there is also sometimes this women against their own kind thing, that some women seem to want to dismiss and denigrate their own kind.. they go out of their way in fact.. I am puzzled as to what they hope to achieve..
I don't know the why of that either Addb. I think everyone should tell the truth all the time or just shut up. There are enough lies floating around as it is. To speak up and lie to "support" someone whose good graces you want to be in just has never made any sense to me. I think it shows weakness and lack of character. All the women who ostensibly support super don I believe do so because their husbands do. They don't want to pi** off hubby dearest so they just roll over and accept whatever he believes and stands by their man. Any reasonable sensible logical thinking woman could not possibly support super don on her own. But millions do. Why? Because they are used to being subservient and doing what they are told.
