Let's see how I can interrupt this. Were "The Grateful Dead," the band, grateful to be dead? Well, Jerry Garcia died in 1995. It was a sorrowful day for many, myself included. The other members, to the best of my knowledge, are still alive and stopped touring. They may be grateful they can finally stop touring before they are dead. The music and the lifestyle the Grateful Dead stood for what was an incredible release of feelings and emotions expressed in many ways. Their name, itself, spoke in more ways than one.
All other people who are dead, I cannot answer for. Since they are dead, there is no way to ask them if they are grateful or not. I can't speak for anyone else, sweets. Nobody can. I'm not sure if this answered your question but I hope it helped. :) :)
