Once you embrace a rigid view do you ever replace it with something new or do you fear even attempting to? Why?

We go our whole lives trying to make something of ourselves, trying to find ways we can fit into society so we can be accepted and build something for ourselves.  Then when we get there we encounter jealousy and resentment from people whose only thought is to rob us of what we have achieved.
