Have the Feds ever gotten involved in Catholic Church sex scandals? They just launched a probe of the Pennsylvania Catholic Church. Why?

Is this a brand new activity of the Justice Department or is this something they have done for decades?

    That is something I always wondered....why did these victims and their families not go to the police instead of the church?

    On why do the cases of alleged rape on college campus go to campus police and not the real police?  (I do have a theory on that one though)
