Twitter has suspended hundreds of thousands of accounts to reduce terrorist activity levels. How dangerous is Twitter anyway? This is how terrorists communicate/recruit? Do you tweet on Twitter? Why

1. You have to understand how Twitter works.
2. You only get to see "tweets" (messages) of people or businesses you follow. Not everybody else.
3. Then you get to see the ones you follow.
4. There are people from all over the world on there and they write in many languages.
5. Tweeter has programs to detect certain words so they are able to detect dangerous messages.
6. Then there are names of avatars that people recognize because of their reputations, like Wikileaks, Anonymous, and other dark names (underground names).
7. There are Imams that preach on there, sending messages that are considered improper.
8. Trump has 11 million followers. Not all of them will vote for him. Thousands are trolls, thousands are Democrats, also media people.
9. Trump has 45 people he follows, those are the messages he gets and reads.
10. News we hear about Tweeter is all we are aware of, like everybody else----news about how they handle accounts.
11. Apparently, Trump has a successful method of communicating to the 11 million, but the best part, for him, is that the main media reports about what he tweets. This way, he gets his message out to a bigger audience. The main media is on radio and TV. So he doesn't pay for his publicity.

Thank you for the info Marguerite. I know nothing about it except that it seems to be addicting and addictifying to many. I have read that the internet has exacerbated the terrorist problem by orders of magnitude. It facilitates communication and aids in spreading their message. It is used to recruit.  I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole. I'm not a joiner in that sense.  Like Facebook I have no interest in it. Massive amounts of info  daily telling you all the intimate details of their lives? With pictures?  Seriously. They comment on everything all the time as if anyone cares. I don't know how many Donald J. Trumps there are out there using Twitter but that alone  is off-putting.  He doesn't need a press conference or rally or speech.  He can get attention 24/7 by twittering. My gosh how depressing is that? Happy Sunday! :)
